There’s a lot of “take-two-ing” going on around here for Kids Clothes Week, and next up is the Clever Charlotte Sandpiper Top, which is another outgrown favorite from last summer. This is a great pattern, and the quickest, easiest little top to sew. So breezy and comfortable for hot weather, too.
The fabric is Anna Maria Horner’s Lou Lou Thi Summer Totem. I love this print but it might be a bit big and bold for such a little canvas. Lila likes it though, and I think it’s growing on me.
I made the same change to the pattern that I made last year – instead of cutting the back corners to dip down into two points, I evened them off to go straight across the back.
The pattern is fully reversible, and the other side is a peacock-colored shot cotton. Much more subdued, and can be worn with the new Class Picnic shorts!
That’s it! Have a happy weekend!
What a lovely top! I love the fabrics you used, especially that bright busy one! This is the nicest version of that pattern I’ve seen. Maybe it’s the straight edges? Well done!
so pretty!
I have been hesitant about using large prints on little ones. The large print in your top looks terrific.
I love this top! The print is gorgeous, but that solid might be my favorite shade of blue… Really cute with the shorts!
I love large bold prints on garments for children. They make such and impact. That top looks like a great pattern to make for this hot summer weather!
Gorgeous as ever–your daughter and her outfits as always! Great sewing Gail!!
What a gorgeous top! I really like the print and the solid blue side looks great with the Picnic shorts. Perfect summer outfit!
Cute outfit!
I love that bold AHM print as well.
Again, I also assumed it was too big for my girl, but seeing it on Lila made me reconsider my judgement – it does look fab on her 🙂
Too cute, both outfits!
what a lovely outfit! I like the simplicity of the it& how comfortable she looks wearing it, which is a must in my house.

Oh my goodness, this is beautiful! And that large, bold print is just perfect for this top!
So cute! It’s a lovely summer outfit.:)
Oh it’s beeeeautiful! I love the print on her and don’t think it’s too loud, especially considering 99% of her bottoms are probably chambray. 😉
I am your blog comment stalker! Striking again!
Love your modification of straightening out the points. What a versatile top, with both a patterned side and a solid (love that shade of the shot cotton). And really, since Lila loves it, it’s a hit regardless!
It’s awesome having a reversible top that you can go print crazy with on one side, and back into the comfortable subdued solid on the other. Most of the time, using prints freaks me out. Lol
I think people worry too much about large-scale prints! Actually to me the print suits the design of the garment really well.
Looking at the pictures of either side of the top, I cannot tell it is reversible. That is some precision sewing and pressing there!
I really love the simplicity of the kids’ clothes you make–just well-chosen fabrics and simple design lines. Beautiful.
Oh, this is just so sweet, and both sides look so great with the chambray! love it!
