So, Kindergarten. In two days. I can’t decide exactly how to feel about it, but like all milestones, it makes me want to sew. The first day of Kindergarten seemed like a good excuse to break out my favorite Oliver + S pattern, the Jump Rope Dress. I made it here and here, but I especially love this pattern for a back-to-school dress. It’s the same one I used two years ago for Lila’s first day of preschool dress, which she wore the first day and then pretty much never again. Maybe we’ll have more luck with this one.
I’ve already publicly declared my love for this pattern, so I won’t go into the full spiel here. But I will confirm that even after a two year hiatus, I’m still completely enamored with the Jump Rope Dress – it’s all those great little details, and Liesl makes it so easy to execute them. This is view A in a size 5 – it came out just a little big, but after three nights of work, I think I’d prefer to err on that side.
I’m always on the look-out for good Jump Rope Dress fabric, and this one (Amy Butler’s Quarter Moon in Mist from her new line, Glow) fit the bill for me. It came from Chio of Llama Fabrics, which brings me to the giveaway – who’d like to win three yards of fabric from Llama Fabrics?
The shop has grown by leaps and bounds since last year (and has a great new logo!) – if you take a look around, you’ll most definitely find something (probably many somethings) to your liking. The selection includes lots of Art Gallery fabrics, which are some of my favorites. Chio ships quickly and her prices are among the best – it’s a great place to shop!
To enter the giveaway, leave a comment on this post. (Speaking of comments, if anyone needs a comment prompt and has ideas for teacher gifts for a male teacher, I’d love to hear!) The giveaway will be open until the end of the day Sunday, September 7th, and I’ll randomly select a winner next week. And if you want to keep up with Chio’s sales and new additions to her shop, you can follow @llamafabrics on Instagram for a second giveaway entry. Just leave another comment here letting me know you’re following. The giveaway is open to everyone, everywhere!
Happy back-to-school!
Lovely dress! For a teachers gift how about a homemade hot cocoa mix with little marshmallows or cookies. Or even a coffee mug with custom printed message/picture from your child.
Thanks for your blog. I’m loving starting to sew clothes for my little girl, who has similar coloring to yours! One teacher friend suggested coffee shop gift cards or edible gifts were her favorite to receive.
Oh wow, I love this dress! I need one for my dd too! I’m loving the Oliver & S patterns as much as you do I think. I love your version of this pattern! for male teacher gifts: I ditto the coffee mug or a towel with his name/initials on it. If he likes candy you can fill the coffee mug with his favorites, that seems to be a big hit in our school!
Marjolein
Beautiful dress, i am going to attempt this one soon. Regarding a male teacher present how about a sewn bookmark or journal cover? Boy colours of course x
What a lovely back to school dress! My oldest daughter has unfortunately outgrown the smaller size range of the dress which I’ve sewn once. But it looks so good on older children as well, I think I should buy the next size as well. As a teacher gift I have had good experiences in the past with homemade hot cocoa mix in a nice cup for male as well as female teachers .
A beautiful dress for a beautiful girl, hope she enjoys her schooldays .
This version is just darling! The jump rope is my fave O&S pattern but yet to buy and make it… Good luck on the first day of kinder.
Recently bought this pattern and can’t wait to make it. As for a teacher gift, I’m thinking reusable snack bag and some snacks like trail mix, chips and jerky. Maybe add a nice water bottle.
What a lovely dress. It’s great to be pointed toward a shop like llamafabrics, although my husband might disagree on that one! 😉
For a male teacher gift: how about a ‘grilling kit’, with a (boy fabric) apron, bbq-tools, some sauce and/or seasoning? Or a plant, with the pot decorated by the kids? Good luck!
Love the dress! Teachers love gift certificates. If he’s a coffee drinker, you could always do a mug and a Starbucks card, or even make a coaster set or fabric cup holder koozie heat protector thing (seriously why can’t I think of a name for those) in darker colours?
Love the dress! I miss sewing Oliver+s patterns for my daughter (now 10). But those details and techniques stay with you.
Male teacher gifts – Amazon or iTunes gift cards, food/beverage, movie tickets, gift certificates… My husband is a teacher 😉
Beautiful dress, and I love it on her. She certainly looks ready for kindergarten! My children are 3rd, 6th, and 8th, and you never lose that little twinge in your heart when they leave for school the first day…but it’s still a good thing. 🙂 For the teacher gift…I always give a gift card, enough to buy lunch at some cute local place.
Nice dress!
I love your blog. Thanks for the opportunity to enter your give away!
Love the dress! I have not tried the jump rope pattern for my grandaughter.i may have to do something about that. Thanks for your inspiration .
I love the fabric choice – unfortunately as my daughter is school uniform age I was limited to grey polyester drill for her back to school dresses – but still managed to sneak in some printed linings!
I really need to finish the one I started last year. Everytime I see this dress, I love it.
I don’t know if there is anything interesting for you there but here’s a board of ideas for male teacher gifts : http://www.pinterest.com/explore/male-teacher-gifts/ 😉
And I follow llamafabrics on IG (I’m marika_makes). I always love some eye candy in my feed !
Beautiful dress! I second the covered journal!
Gorgeous dress! As a former teacher, I can say gift cards are the way to go. Maybe a mug and a gift card to the local coffee shop, or a gift card to a bookstore. Good luck!
great dress! We’ve given gift cards for male teachers. Not very exciting but useful (I hope!)
Oh I love this dress too. I must make one more before my daughter outgrows the small sized pattern I have. Yours always look great, and that is a perfect pattern fir it.
Hmmmm… Bloke gift. Maybe a zippered, padded laptop bag.
Such a sweet dress! I hope she wears it all year long!
My husband’s a teacher and he likes anything related to books…gift cards, book marks, etc. I even made him a bookshelf quilt. 🙂
ALL teachers love gift cards! Bass ProShop, REI, Dick’s come to mind . Sorry nothing you can sew.
What a great back to school dress! Great job! Thanks for the chance to enter the give-a-way too! For a male teacher gift, how about some personalized cards or paper pad for his desk like this: https://www.etsy.com/listing/151682533/teacher-note-cards-teacher-gifts-male?utm_source=Pinterest&utm_medium=PageTools&utm_http://www.operationworld.org/sep03=Share
This is so very cute.
When I taught I always appreciated gift certificates to Starbucks or for a new book. Not very original but really useful.
I also follow llama fabrics on Instagram! Always fun to see their posts! Thanks again
I love everything about this dress – the rounded collar, the belted waist, the gathered skirt, the fabric – it is just such a classic childhood dress! I can visualize you looking fondly at pictures years from now. It really captures a beautiful moment in time. Thanks for sharing! Bookmarks or a boxy toiletry pouch or bag for computer cords are my suggestions for projects to make for a male teacher. And thanks for the great giveaway!
Another beautiful jump rope dress. I hope to make this dress…eventually!
Go with a gift card. Love your little girls dress. Hope she had a great 1st day. Love the lime green in the fabric. Thanks for the chance.
I love the dress! Home baked goods would be loved, I am sure, by any guy…add a Starbucks GC to go with it or make up a gift basket with home baked goodies and several types of drinks.
Love the dress 🙂
I follow on IG @fromedentograce
What a lovely back to school dress! Jump rope is one of my favorites too. And thank you for the giveaway! 🙂
That dress is magnificent! For teacher gifts, I always went with gift cards to barnes and noble, but for something homemade, how about a large paperclip/pen holder for grading papers? Fabric covered so the ends won’t rip the papers, with a pocket sewn on for a marking pen.
allisonpogany@gmail.com
This is so beautiful! Does the waist sash stay tied (more or less) throughout the day? I love the look of this dress so much, but I hesitate to put my daughter in something that she’s going to fuss with or be distracted by during the day. (I’m hopeful that when made with quilting cotton, the bow is pretty stable??) I’d love to know how well it stays put, if you don’t mind sharing! Thanks!
you’re right – the quilting cotton really does make it stable. you can certainly pull on the tails and untie it, but it does stay tied if left alone! you could also double knot it instead of doing the bow, that would keep it in place for sure 🙂
So so cute!
That dress is so cute! I also think gift cards are always a good gift.
Love your blog, and the dress is so pretty! Hope she loves kindergarten!
One of the better gifts I’ve sewn for guys is the Pockets to Go pattern by Atkinson Designs in manly fabrics. It would be great as a desk organizer. I make the cube size. I personally have 3 in very cute fabrics: one for make-up/lotions, one for my bedside, one in a guest bathroom for small bathroom items guests might need. Friends have also used it as a sewing caddy, there are many, many uses. Everyone I’ve made them for loves them. They take a while to make and I usually make at least a couple at a time. Maybe a Xmas present? Thanks for the tip on and potential prize from Llama fabrics too!
Oh my goodness, yes Please!! 🙂 Such a sweet dress.
Beautiful dress! For the teacher gift we took the easy route last year and did a gift card to a running store (teacher coached cross country). In the past we have done homemade edibles as well (homemade kimchi, granola, limoncello, etc).
Would love this for my daughter! I went to school in Australia and at least when I was growing up, we *never* gave our teachers gifts!! I suppose that will have to change when I send my littles to school in the States!
Love this fabric – and would love to make a baby quilt out of it!
Adorable dress. Thanks for the chance to win.
I love this dress. I have had the pattern for a while now, and after seeing your version, I believe it is finally time to make one! And you have such a good eye for choosing just the right fabric! I also made an Oliver + S pattern for my daughter’s first day of Kindergarten (Which is today!!! I am so going to cry watching her walk into her school!). I made the Class Picnic Blouse. I LOVE O + S patterns!!
While my daughters have had several male teachers, I still don’t have a good suggestion for you because the parents at my kid’s school always do group gifts. That dress is adorable!
This post gives me flash backs to when my daughter first started school, many, many years ago.
As the wife of a male teacher, I gotta vote gift cards all the way! Aside from gift cards, my husband’s favorite so far is a pair of ear buds he got a couple years ago. They have a little tag with his name on them (because teacher’s things tend to… walk away…) My guy at least is just not that sentimental and isn’t into the cutesy stuff.
Perfect first day of school dress, Gail – everything you sew is inspiring!
I love the dress and the fabric. Your daughter is adorable, thanks for the oppty to win!
The hubs favorite has been travel coffee mug, water bottle, small coffee shop gift card. One mom made us homemade granola last year (so good) and included the recipe. He really feels gifts are unnecessary, so anything small is a nice surprise and appreciated greatly.
I love the dress! This pattern is definitely on my to-sew list. How exciting for the first day of kindergarten! I hope she has a wonderful first week!
I love the dress! (what if I’m not on Instagram? sigh.) Thanks so much for a chance to win some pretty fabric! And, I am of no help when it comes to teacher gifts….we homeschool, so the only men I buy gifts for are sons, fathers and brothers. Music? Food? 🙂
That dress is darling! Hope she had a great first day!
Adorable! I really need to get this pattern–and the fabric is gorgeous! 🙂
Another great dress and so perfect for starting the school year – your fabric selection is always so special 🙂
Sorry not much help for a male teacher (a gift card sound nice, tho)
This is probably my favorite pattern too! You always choose the perfect fabric for yours. I love it!
How darling! I know a little one who would look cute in that ; )
Perhaps some manly fabric buckets for storage on a shelf?
Love this pattern too, and this fabric is just PERFECT for it!!!! Well done!
Happily following on IG!
Love, love the Jumprope dress! Perfect dress for first day of school. I just ordered fabric from this shop and love it! Great service, generous measurements and wonderful selection. I’m sure I will see many more beautiful things from this shop in the bear future!
Meant to say in the NEAR future but perhaps fabric with a “bear” motif is in my future! Lol!!
such a sweet dress! And who doesn’t LOVE free fabric!?
For a teacher gift, you could do a set of personalized handmade note cards? “A note from Mr. XYZ”
Or what about a gift card with a handmade note-card with a tie printed, and a shirt pocket for the gift card?
I keep thinking maybe a set of ruler with a card that says “You really Measure UP to a great teacher!” Or maybe “Hoping this Measures UP to a great school year!”
Or pre-stock a kids grab jar with tiny non candy gifts (think oriental express bouncy balls, rubber spider rings, tiny crayon boxes, pencils, little 6inch rulers, googly eye glasses, etc. I’m not a fan of candy as a special treat/gift/grab jar thing, but maybe mini school supplies? Kids LOVE cute erasers and fun pencils even well into elementary and jr. high!) in a giant glass jar with “Mr. XYZ’s Stache” and a mustachio sticker between his name and “stache”??
I’m not a fan of giving food/drink gift because so many people have food allergies/dietary restrictions/etc. It’s just too difficult to guess. (From the mom that gave homemade Mexican pralines to the teachers for Christmas only to fine 2 of them were insulin dependent diabetics. Wasted gift! More importantly WASTED PRALINES! LOL)
what a great giveaway–and also a lovely dress. gotta love a beautiful dress getting worn once…i’ve been there as well! hope this one makes it into the regular rotation and that her first day was great!
also following llama fabrics on IG 🙂
Darling dress. Male teacher gift idea: Shaving mug with brush and cream
Such a great dress. I am a health teacher, and all the male teachers I know would love anything. It’s the thought that counts. Maybe tickets to a sporting event? Car wash coupons or even movie tickets?
great choice for first day of school dress:) and congrats to Lila for starting Kindergarten – big stuff!
Following on Instagram.
Oh my. This is stunning. And makes me want to sew one for my girlie right now! Love that fabric. And I can see I’m going to haunt Llama Fabrics regularly… Looks like you have lots of suggestions for male teacher gifts. I’d second gift certificates. I’d also suggest school supplies – all those little things teachers end up buying out of their own pocket. Thanks for the chance!
That is such a lovely dress! I wish I had a little girl to sew for, I have 3 boys and a grandson on the way. something about boys in my house! Thank you for the chance to win!
She looks so adorable! I love the dress and I love the fabric. Thanks for the chance to win!
Art Gallery fabric are among my favorites too & always enjoy reading your blog!
Lovely dress! I have just started sewing (because the third trimester of pregnancy is such a great time to learn a new craft!) and your blog has been my biggest motivation to keep going. Everything you make is beautiful! Years ago when I was first married, I mentioned to a friend my desire to learn to sew, and she told me it was too late for me. I went with that for a long time, but apparently she was wrong! I am having more fun making cute things for this baby girl.
As to the teacher gift, you can’t go wrong with food or a gift card. Or have your mom knit him this cool Portland-y hat: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/jasons-tweed-hat
It’s made with a bulky weight yarn, and can be easily knit up in an afternoon.
Following llamafabrics!
Gift idea- what about a succulent? Easy to grow!
Lovely dress and fabric – headed over to Llama Fabrics now to check out what is there!
Love this dress. My daughter just started First Grade today and she would look so beautiful in a dress like this and my sewing hands are itching to get some sewing done and distract me from thinking about what she’s doing all day at school 😉
Such a cute dress!
Wow! Beautiful dress!! My daughter only wants me to make her dresses and this one is just wonderful!
Three yards of fabric?? That would be 3 new dresses for my little lady! Thank you for the opportunity to win such a great prize!
This dress is beautiful! If only I could figure out how to use my button maker foot consistently!
I’m a teacher, no gifts required, but I honestly prefer gift cards over anything… Sorry, kind of lame.
No gift ideas, sorry. — I love the colors of this dress!
Thanks for the chance to win!
Love the color and pattern on this dress. I made my daughter’s first day of kindergarten dress 23 years ago, thanks for bringing up such a special memory!
I agree with the gift card idea but my mom and sister (both teachers) always appreciated something consumable. One time I gave a male teacher a huge bag of different pattern paper plates and napkins so he and his buddies could use them when watching sports on weekends. He loved it 🙂
Such a cute dress! Can I make it in an adult size? 🙂
I have yet to try Jump rope dress, but I do love it. I also love Llama fabrics. Am I allowed to enter this draw? I won some Llama fabrics from you before, and I swear I used them to make beautiful things almost right away and they did not sit around gathering dust. So I am a worthy recipient.
As for teacher gifts, I don’t sew well enough for that kind of thing. I knit, but I dislike giving knitwear to people I hardly know, but I hear some mittens are good for “yard duty”. I make my own soap, so I usually give a bar or two away as teacher gifts, but I know that is one of the less common craft/hobbies and not safe to do around little children. How about a nice fabric bowl from your Nova Flitter pattern?
Gift cards for teachers! That was always my favorite. 🙂
PS. Love all of your jump ropes. I agree with an above commenter who said it’s her favorite pattern but she’s never actually made it!
PPS. I’m not on IG but I do love that shop.
Oh wow! Great dress! I’d love to win some fabric 🙂 As for male teacher gifts, a gift card to a steak place or coffee place might work.
LOVE the dress! How about a B&N gift card?
Arg. It’s adorable. I always love your jumprope dresses and i still haven’t made one, shame on me!! Yeah I’d say gift cards (or iced coffee, since you have a source for that), though dude teachers need dude tote bags too. Made of duck cloth or waxed canvas or something manly like that. Thanks for the giveaway, BTW!
Oh what a perfect school dress! Love it. And male gifts are so hard. Pretty sure Id end up doing Starbucks gift cards.
Beautiful dress! I think a coffee gift card or Barnes and Noble gift card would be appreciated. Or maybe a new travel coffee mug or water bottle!
Kindergarten is breaking my heart! We’re on our third week so far.
I love this dress you made. I wonder if my daughter would wear one? Let us know if she wears it again.
Also, love Llama fabrics. I’ve made lots of orders thanks to your introduction!
Thanks for the chance to win! I haven’t tried the jump rope dress yet. Your version is lovely…. I might have to get the pattern!
I just started following llama fabrics on Instagram 🙂
A lovely school dress and a lovely model.
Many teachers usually love to read — gift cards to Barnes and Noble or amazon are always great!
This is such a lovely dress in such a beautiful fabric!!! Pinterest has some very good gift ideas for teachers, if youre not afraid to be a little cheesy!!
I have still not make this view after years of owning the pattern. So disappointed in myself! Lila’s version is gorgeous.
Lila is going to rock Kindergarten in this dress!
I think a gift card is the way to go, too.
The dress is great!
Mason Jars are supposed to be ‘in’ this year, so fill one with one of those cake mixes.
I love this dress! And I would love to try to make one just like it – awesome fabric!
Great dress! I love both pattern and fabric!
Thank you for the giveaway! I didn’t know this shop but I will check it out now.
Would a fabric pencil case be a nice gift for a male teacher? My daughter and have made a super simple pencil case for her teacher and she loved it!
You always choose THE BEST fabric!
Cute dress. Love the fabric! Teacher gift: homemade cookies or brownies and a Starbucks gift card.
I love all of your creations!! This dress is wonderful!! As for a teacher gift, gift cards are appreciated. Does he wear ties? You could always make one….
I follow Llama Fabrics on Instagram. pksolberg. Thanks again!
Love, love, love this fabric! What a beautiful little dress!
What about Bannana Bread, or a bag of really nice coffee? If you want homemade, I’ve seen some costers on someone’s blog (sorry, I forgot who!) for a male teacher made from fabric that said, “blah, blah, blah” and I thought they were fantsatic! I’ve also seen ipod/pad stands that were homemade.
Such a cute dress! As far as teacher gifts, I always lean toward homemade goodies (cookie, brownies, candy) or gift cards! Thanks for the giveaway.
I can’t wait til my girl stops growing a bit (she’s only 5 months so at the moment clothes don’t last too long!) and I can make one of these. Perhaps for her first birthday?
3 yards of fabric. Wow! I agree with the gift card idea for a male teacher: coffee shop, movies, books, iTunes. A note or drawing by the student is a nice touch to include too.
Love! Id say gift cards are the way to go. 🙂
My girl would start Kindergarten this year too.. but we are back in Japan now and she will start elementary next Spring! This dress sure is great and I’d love to win some fabric from US! And I started following them on IG!
All of your work is so beautiful.. Love following along!
Love this print and pattern! NO IDEA for homemade male teacher gifts…but am enjoying reading other people’s suggestions! 🙂
Gail, this is absolutely spectacular. I love it so much! I have yet to make this dress, but seeing this makes me want to go for it. I also love the fabric you chose. It’s so perfect! Beautifully done! Oh and Tia started kindergarten this year too! Lila looks older than Tia to me, though. Maybe she’s like Indigo – long and lean which I think makes them look older?
You always pick the best fabrics! My son started Kindergarten this year too. Big milestone for sure. I’d suggest a simple dopp kit in a heavy denim with a brass zipper. Super manly. 🙂
I love this dress, wish the pattern was still in print (not a fan of downloads) Gifts: do you want to make or buy? Cup cozy, or pencil scarf, tote bag with a few fun supplies.
Give him a Starbucks card!! Haha! 😉
Love the dress!! I don’t know whether to thank or curse you but I am now following llama fabrics on Instagram!
I remember in elementary school giving one of my male teachers a fishing pole. He seemed to really like it!
Coffee! A pound of your fav roast will probably be appreciated by someone in his household. Thanks for the giveaway, I LOVE the dress! I’ve never felt the need to add this pattern to my O + s collection, but your version might just have convinced me.
Lovely dress:) I’m just learning so for now on can onlybdream about sewing something like that;) As it comes about a male teacher gift – hmm white coffe mug decorated by kids with sharpie for instant? Maybe something connected with teaching what he could use at work?
I’d love to win this!! Love O&S patterns too…
I also follow @llamafsbrics on instagram 🙂
I’ve always been on the fence about whether to try the O&S patterns, but your adorable dress has completely sold me!
I’d think male teachers would be just as thrilled with most typical teacher gifts. Fun classroom supplies, edibles, gift cards for a treat out or place where school supplies can be purchased.
Oh my goodness, this fabric is so so perfect for this dress!! I love it! Fantastic job. I hope the first day of Kindergarten goes fantastically! And as far a men teacher gifts?…hmm…I’m not totally sure, but V has a man teacher this year too so I’ll have to start reading the comments above! 😉
This is so cute!!
Thanks for adding the Jump Rope dress pic to Flickr. I am in the middle of making this pattern for the first time and loved to see your crisp version. I am using some retro fabric and thought this was the perfect pattern.
A friend of mine made a polar fleece vest for a male teacher and he loved it. Also, maybe a polar fleece stadium blanket in school colors for the guy teacher.
Oh heavens I am in happy love with this dress & the little Salt Water sandals so take me back to when I was little! I would think maybe some cool customized stationary would be rad for a male or female teacher! They can never have enough notepads! Thanks for the sweet chance btw!
Adorable and now I am coveting that fabric – so gorgeous. Gift cards and letters/drawings from the student are always the best gift for any teacher – at least they are for this teacher….
For a male teacher, the IPAD or tablet sleeve (Free tutorial on Sew Mama Sew).
Or the Cup and drink bottle Koozies (Fat Quarter Shop has a super easy quilted tutorial).
I raised boys so didn’t get to sew those pretty first day of school dresses. But I do remember how I soaked my own dress w/tears on their first days of school. It will always be a special place in your heart.
What a lovely dress, although I have the same problem as you with regards whether my children will actually wear my creations!
What a beautiful dress! You are very talented!
I love this dress and the fabric is perfect! My oldest had a male teacher last year and we got him a Game Stop gift card at Christmas (apparently he’s a “gamer”) and a gift card for Graeter’s (local ice cream store) at the end of the year. Plants are also good. I had a friend who made a lap-sized quilt for her daughter’s male teacher last year (with masculine-ish fabrics) so maybe sewing is still an option.
I’m following @llamafabrics on IG
Beautiful dress and beautiful fabric. I just love seeing your creations. As for a teacher’s gift, you can never go wrong with an Amazon gift card.
I’m following @llamafabrics on IG as @larkandwren
Ooh! This is cute! All the men I know like cookies. 🙂 Maybe some coffee or hot chocolate and cookies.
Love the dress! Beautiful. And gorgeous fabric.
As a teacher, I’ve always appreciated gift cards with a heartfelt note.
Your dresses and everything are always so beautiful. Jessica always references you when looking for the style she enjoys for Bella. Hopefully this dress will be no exception because I’m dying to make it.
Cute dress as always! I’ve made this pattern only once, but in the other view. My go to dress pattern is the roller skate dress. Last year I made 2 for the first day of school and 1 for the end of schools this year I made another for the first day of first grade.
I think your fabric choice is always my favorite part of your sewing projects. Another job well done, for sure.
Always love your projects. Thanks for all the great pattern ideas 🙂
Another lovely jump rope dress, Gail! Best of luck in Kindergarten, Lila!
Sorry about the lack of gift ideas, I am always stumped when it comes to make teachers. I would say either chocolate or a gift card to barnes and noble, Starbucks, or best buy?
Lovely dress and your choice of fabric is spot on. Movie gift cards always seem to go over well for teachers of any kind.
Also following Llama fabrics!
Such an adorable dress!
Love this dress. I have no idea for a male teacher gift! Sorry 😦
Such a great dress! Get him a gift card to learning palace, michaels, ikea, or target! Or make him a tie;) he’ll need a cute tie tac too! Maybe a shrinky dink one? Or flowers and a nice card. Not much beats a heart-felt note from a parent or student about how much they like the class and him!
Maybe some good coffee with a great mug? Some leather goods (like from hide and true)? I love my keychain from there.
What a beautiful dress! I’ve yet to make this one but I’m going to have to soon! As for male teacher gifts, I’ve used jeni of incolororder’s drawstring bag pattern to make bags out of their favorite sports team colors and then filled them with homemade chocolate chip cookies. Always a hit!!
I made the jump rope dress for my daughters first day of kinder last year. I do love that pattern! Who doesn’t love oliver+ s? Beautifully crafted.
Great pattern on that fabric ! And who wouldn’t want to win 3 yards of free fabric ? How about a scarf as a teacher’s gift – you could use some nice wool fabric . Winter’s coming..
Thanks for the chance at the giveaway! My husband and I are both teachers and as boring as it is, a gift card for coffee or lunch is always great. No mugs, though… I need to buy another house to store all my mugs 🙂
Cutest dress ever! Really makes me want to pull out my sewing machine(after 10 years) and give it a whirl! Love love this
The dress is so lovely! As a former teacher, I would advise you to get him something that he can use in the classroom. Most teachers use quite a bit of their own money to supply their classroom. A gift card to a bookstore or a teacher store would be appreciated. Please don’t get him anything (like a mug) with apples on it! He probably already has two thousand apple items!
