If on the off chance you’re not familiar with Sanae‘s blog, I hope you’ll go visit today and take a good look around. It’s one of the very best out there, in my opinion. Her sewing is inspirational (and unbelievably prolific!), her writing is beautiful and honest, and she’s an all-around lovely and talented person. This week she’s gathered five bloggers together to share some of their favorite handmade items. Here’s the line-up:
Monday | An of StraightGrain
Tuesday | Cherie of You & Mie
Wednesday | Gail of ProbablyActually
Thursday | Kristin of Skirt As Top
Friday | Robin of Nested in Stitches
So anyway, you can find today me at Sanae Ishida, posting about my favorite handmade. And I’ll warn you before you head over there – choosing my favorite turned out to be an emotional endeavor!
thought i’d comment on your blog on the guest post….so well written! just wonderful…..i loved this post!
Oh my goodness Gail, I just read your post on Sanae’s blog and it was just beautiful. You have a wonderful writing style and reading your words about your daughter made me get tears in my eyes! It is always a treat to read your blog posts!
loved your post, Gail! I have got some serious emotional attachment to my daughters’ homesewn items too. So sweet that Lila loves her doll carrier. 🙂
gail, i loved your post. it’s really touching that you chose the baby carrier amongst all of the beautiful things you’ve made.
there are some days as a stay at home mom, where i feel like all i do is laundry, dishes, and clean up messes. but when i see my children nurturing others – comforting one another or tenderly carrying a doll, i see they are absorbing not (only) what i say, but what i do. and if i want to teach them one thing, it’s to love others well. your post reminded me of this.
ohhhhh geez girl! what a post! i loved every word, and totally cried. i agree that 2.5 seems to be the age where they become “real people” (finding that with O now, he’s cracking me up) and i think it’s obvious that you always sew with so much thought and love. it’s why i’m such a huge fan of yours!! anyway, beautiful. you’re a keeper.
Love your blog Gail! I can’t wait until my shoulder heals and I can start sewing again. You have inspired me! I love those fabric bowls!
such a sweet post and memory of your daughter ^_^
I love her little doll world and all the things you’ve made to help her care for them. After seeing your doll diapers post a long time ago, I’ve had it in the back of my head and I’m finally making some as a little baby care kit for my girls. When I have my own baby in July, I’m hoping they can enjoy caring for their own babies too.
I just read your post over at Sanae’s blog – such a beautiful piece of writing… I can totally relate to those feelings. Kids growing up is the most natural and universal thing there is, but that doesn’t make it easier to deal with for us moms, isn’t it?
I’m in complete agreement with everyone – your post was absolutely beautiful and inspiring and it’s the kind of writing that leaves you weepy and elated and totally motivated to be a better mama! Thank you, Gail, you’re brilliant.
