Since we only had a few neighborhood kids at Lila’s birthday party, I decided to put together little favor bags for everyone in her preschool class.
Her birthday happened to fall on a school day, so she was extra excited about passing out treats to her school friends.
We made sparkle play dough (this recipe plus a bunch of glitter) and sprinkled sugar cookies shaped like fours. Lila also requested that I make “little tiny baby dolls” for each bag, but that birthday wish got squashed pretty quickly.
The kraft bags from Paper Source are a good size for a couple of little treats and make for a nice blank canvas. I cut the little animal shapes from a sheet of wrapping paper, glued them to punched card stock circles, then stamped names on the bags.
This is surely one of those projects that was 14x as much fun for me to put together as it was for the kids to receive, but believe me, such things stopped concerning me a long time ago. 🙂
so cute !
Oh, the queen of packaging has been busy again! These are so amazingly cute and even if Lila’s classmates don’t fully appreciate the time/work put into them, the rest of your blog admirers certainly do:)
Such a great idea for favors! And the packaging is super cute!
I think they would be fun to make too. Very sweet prizes
incredibly sweet and every last detail is just perfect. Someday I’ll grow up to be you gail. 🙂
OH! Adorable. You’re the best at this. Even the kids didn’t appreciate it, I’d bet their parents sure did!
Cute packaging!
such a lovely idea. my daughter whose is about as old as yours would love to make and play with some playdough. will certainly try it out. Have you ever used natural food colouring like beet juice etc.?
i love this, gail! I love that you enjoy doing this! there was recently a post going around FB (which i normally avoid at all costs but we’ve been sick with a stomach flu and i have had waay too much time spent horizontal) about how moms need to stop doing this stuff because it sets the bar too high for others moms and they should be spending more time with their kids instead. and i thought – how judgmental! my kids loove when other parents do these types of things, even when i don’t. i feel no pressure. and, as someone who sews, my sewing time does not take away the time from my kids. it comes at the expense of other things that i consider less important, like watching tv, or spending a lot of time on social media, or cleaning (haha-sad but true!)! anyway, i wondered, based on your last sentence if you had read that too?
my husband normally has a glitter ban instituted at own house but, after we are all well, i am totally going to make this- with glitter. my girls will LOVE it! thanks for the idea.
great job!
amen! i didn’t see the FB thread but would’ve had your same reaction if i did! i think i’ve just become comfortable with the fact that i do this stuff because i enjoy it…it’s an added bonus when others appreciate it, but i’m also allowed to do things because they’re fun for me, right?? i think i am 🙂 and yes, it comes at the expense of cleaning around here, too!
Oh these are gorgeous. I’m half tempted to make one for myself!
Thanks for the link to the eco wrapping paper too, I hadn’t come across that before…
Um, Gail? You are amazing! You should start a little side business, ya know. These are brilliant!
I love all your birthday posts, and these little treat bags are just adorable. I can’t wait to show my daughter! I’m sure she’ll want these for her next party 🙂
I’m finally catching up on my regular reads and Gail!!! These are amazing and I second Robin!
such a cute idea! admirable!
These are so cute!! I would have fun putting these together too!
