It’s that time of year again…Kids Clothes Week Challenge is upon us!
I’m guest posting today at Elsie Marley (I know, I can’t believe it either!) and I’m super excited to be part of the pre-KCWC excitement this time around! I hope you’ll go check out all the fun variations of Dana’s basic Kid Pants in the lineup this week. I went the corduroy and hedgehog route myself. Here’s a peek, but you can get all the details here!
If you’re not familiar with KCWC you can read all about it right here (and more here), but the jist of the challenge is to sew kids clothes for an hour a day, for seven days. The event happens once in the spring and again in the fall, and the great part about participating (aside from ending up with some lovely little garments for the season) is that hundreds and hundreds of people are sewing along with you and posting photos in the flickr group, which is full of the greatest handmade kids clothes you ever did see. It all starts on Monday, so if you haven’t done so already, go sign up by leaving a comment on this post!
And preparing is part of the fun, too – I don’t have any definite plans yet for next week, but I’ve got a big list going and these are some of the things I’m hoping to put to use:
I like to have all my patterns traced and cut out the week before so that I can just sew when the time comes, and while I never get around to completing everything, it’s amazing how productive you can be with all that prep work done! I’m trying to keep things simple and realistic this time, being eight months pregnant and all. Cutting out patterns on the floor and standing at the ironing board all evening (along with staying up past 8pm, frankly) are challenges in and of themselves at the moment. But I’m going to try!
Happy planning and sewing, everyone, and hope to see all your amazing creations next week!
oh my goodness those pockets on the back are adorable!!! Love these!
Wow Gail, you are in the big leagues;). Those pants are adorable. Congrats!
your pants were simply adorable:) How thrilled I was to see your post on Elsie Marley this morning . . . I’d been missing me some Probably Actually:)
OF COURSE you went the corduroy and hedgehog route. What other route is there, really? π Congrats on the guest post, friend! Love these little pants and your photos are perfect, as always.
Love all your post and I like many others adore these cute pants, I am a hedgehog freak. I too have taken inspiration from Boden over they years, and I might just have to do these pants for Little Miss N.
I am participating in the KCWC for the first time this fall and I am over the top excited. I have also donβt bunches of prep work, in attempts to make every moment of the week count. Good Luck with your sewing as well as the last few weeks of pregnancy. Praying you and your family will have a safe healthy outcome! May God bless you!
CUUUUUUUUUUTE. So adorable. I’m heading over to EM to check it out now, but I can’t wait to see what you make during KCWC – you’re such a creative super star! I have that Handmade Beginnings book too, but never made anything from it π¦ – please inspire me! Hehe. You always do.
OK, if there was a “cutest hedgehog pants” contest, you’d win. Nice work. π
Congratulations on guest posting, Gail! And the pants are *super* adorable! I have that book too, can’t wait to see what you’ll make from it. I have seven weeks to go before my due date and my energy is starting to wane again… The worst time for that to happen! I don’t know how much I’ll get done next week, but I’m sure going to try. We can cheer each other along when making it ’till 8pm gets to be too much π Good luck with everything, and can’t wait to ser what you’ll make next week!
(your sewing from last year is still an inspiration to me!)
Oh, those pants! Can’t wait to see what you do for KCWC π
Wow I didn’t even know you were preggers! Congrats. Cute pants, looking forward to seeing what you come up with this KCWC.
Cute pants, I think this is the first post I’ve seen Dana’s pants pattern on a girl and they look and fit great! Like your new header design too.
That is one cute pair of pants! I was in a super productive mood and cut out 6 things ready for KCWC. Hopefully I get around to sewing them all.
gail, I forgot to stop and tell how you freaking adorable those pants are, amazing!!!!!!!! You are so cool π
You are so incredibly talented!! LOVE everything you make! π Can’t wait to see more
I LOVE knocking off mini Boden stuff! These pants are adorable!
These are so sweet! Love Mini Boden. And really, hedgehogs make everything better.
I tried your pants over the weekend (my daughter wouldn’t let me do them quite the same) but we love them as much as we love yours.
They are here if you care to see them π
