June is notoriously cool and rainy around here, but we’re dreaming of shorts season, hoping we get to break them out at least by August. We’re preparing early.
These are the Oliver + S Puppet Show shorts in Robert Kaufman Carolina chambray (in black) and, randomly, the same Moda pin dots I used to make the Puppet Show dress for Christmas. With red top stitching. And a buckin’ bronco tattoo.
The Puppet Show pattern is available to download as a pdf, along with all the other retired Oliver + S patterns.
I love the gathering on the pockets and at the legs…such cute little details. I wish I’d had this pattern earlier, because I think they’re the perfect shorts for chubby little baby legs. But for now, these skinny little almost-preschooler legs will have to do.
And while we’re on the topic of shorts, have you heard about the Shorts on the Line series coming up in July? It’s a three week sewalong with prizes, so start sewing shorts and enter them into the Flickr group! I’ll be guest posting at imagine gnats on the 8th, so stay tuned. Until then, hope everyone is enjoying some actual shorts weather where you are!
isn’t that the best pattern? Your turned out really cute, I love the pink, too. I think it might get nice before August. Hope. Yes, it *must* get nice before August! 😉
I love those shorts!! That has to be the cutest girls shorts pattern ever!
Super cute! I love the pink binding on the cuff and pockets. I agree that this pattern is just adorable. I’ve made one, but I hope to make more soon. And I might have to steal your contrasting cuff idea 🙂 Hope sun comes your way soon!
Adorable! I need to try that pattern. Great work.
Love the shorts! We have a few pairs that have been in rotation for a couple of years. I’m going to be so sad when my girls outgrow that pattern.
these are so adorable gail! she looks so happy in them. I think I got this pattern from a friend, I’ll have to give them a try, too cute not to. 🙂
I have this pattern all printed out…now I just have to make it. Perhaps when it gets above 60 degrees around here I’ll be inspired to make some shorts!!
Isn’t this the best pattern for shorts? I waited quite awhile to buy it (got the pdf for Christmas) b/c I wasn’t as crazy about the tunic, but the shorts alone make the purchase worth it! Love the trim against the chambray! May your summer days warm up and afford Lila many opportunities to wear them:)
I love these. SO cute. Those two colours work superbly together.
when it rained yesterday i was soooo mad. but today it’s sunny and 80 degrees so now i’m happy. the shorts are adorable and her legs are still cute even if they are a bit skinnier.
Super duper cute! Man, everyone seems to love that pattern! I really need to give it a whirl. 🙂
love these!
So cute!! I love the trim, and the bucking bronco tattoo!
LOVE the contrasting bias tape! I need to try that pattern. 🙂
Such darling shorts! Your choice of chambray and the pin dot is spot on. I’m going to have to look for that pattern at the local sew shop. All best!
