What do ya know, today is my blogiversary!
It’s been a good year. When you stay home with your kids, you don’t get a lot of feedback about your job performance. I think I consider the things I sew and create as part of my work – it feels good to produce something tangible, and then get feedback at the end. So having a blog is nice in that respect, because besides just getting to share the things I make, sometimes people even say nice stuff about it! The comments and emails I’ve received this past year (and even the fact that people just stop by and look) have made my day on many occasions, so I wanted to say thank you.
And in honor of a year’s worth of posts, I have two random things to share. First, a dress that I didn’t make (but wish I could say I did):
Awhile back I came across this dress on Alicia’s beautiful blog, Posie gets Cozy. The pattern is called Clara by Karin Vestergaard Mathiesen and comes in a kit with the yarn (in 22 color choices). I don’t knit, but I love to collect knitting projects in hopes that my mom might make them for me. Unfortunately, this pattern only goes to 12-18 months, so Lila had already sized out by the time I discovered it. But my mom loved it too, and wanted to make it anyway.
What will we do with this 12-18 month sized dress, you ask?
That brings me to my second piece of news:
See that blue potato thing on the left? That’s Lila’s baby brother or sister – yep, it’s true, we’re having a baby! Due in November. No idea if it’s the dress-wearing variety yet, but there’s a 50/50 chance.
Lila is SO excited (she has a thing for babies, in case it wasn’t obvious). I’m just enjoying her adorable enthusiasm for now…you know, just in case it doesn’t last.
Congratulations! On both the new addition to the family, and the anniversary! I’ve so enjoyed stopping by during the last year, and I’m looking forward to another year of inspiration and baby goodness.
And the dress your Mom made is gorgeous – it must have taken her forever with all those tiny stitches.
Congratulations on your newest upcoming addition! & also congratulations on your 1 year of blogging 🙂
Eeek! Congratulations. Thats brilliant news. (and also, whenever a baby is on the cards it is always handy having a mum that knits. I know I was grateful for the skills of mine!)
Congratulations!!!
I found you via (I think) the Oliver and S flickr list. I’ve never made any of her patterns, but I’m VERY much attracted to them. However, I 1) Don’t have children that young anymore, and grands are a few years off, and 2) I find them to be a bit pricey. I’m an experienced sewist, and have been sewing for more years than I care to admit, and I imagine that I’m familiar with many of Liesel’s (sp?) methods/techniques. You seem to have conquered most everything you set out to do – very, VERY professionally at that. I “sew” enjoy your style, color combo, fabric selection, etc.
Looking forward to your future posts.
Oh and I ADORE that dress you mother knit – I DO know how to knit, and I wish it was available as a pattern, and not just a kit. :-(.
Congratulations on the new baby!!! Such exciting news! I have thoroughly enjoyed your blog for the past year and your flickr photostream before that. Wishing you lots of sleep-filled nights before the baby arrives! 🙂
Congratulations on such wonderful news! I can’t thank you enough for all the time and work you put into your blog. Your projects have renewed my craft love; I can’t wait to see all the itty bitty projects ahead!
Yay for anniversaries and babies! And that dress is to die for!! I have to agree with you, I have enjoyed flickr and my blog for the simple fact of having someone else “care” about what I have made. My husband hasn’t gotten down his sincere “Looks amazing” line yet, so it is nice to get comments or views. Just discovered your blog recently and have enjoyed reading!
Congratulations, Gail!
I want to Congratulate you on the anniversary of your blog. I know exactly what you mean that you don’t really get any feedback on the daily household work you do but getting an email or a nice posting makes your day. I’m the same way in that regards. And then WOW WOW WOW! What wonderful news about the baby!!!! I’m so super happy for you! Our 2nd one just turned 1 and I have no idea where the time went. My baby is turning into a toddler with such speed that it’s terrifying. I would like to keep my baby smaller for a bit longer. I’m sure Lila is excited. Becoming a big sister is such an important thing! I hope the baby will be the dress-wearing-kind so that the lovely dress will get some usage!!!! 🙂
Huge congrats Gail!!!!
