Okay, I finished the last of my pre-cut out projects, an Oliver + S Class Picnic Blouse.
I haven’t felt like thinking very hard these past couple nights, and since I’ve made this one before, I really didn’t have to – it’s a great pattern, and an easy one.
I lengthened it a bit this time – I had originally traced the pattern in a 2T with 3T length, but it still wasn’t quite long enough for me, so I added another 3/4 of an inch or so. I think I’m satisfied now.
I also added piping under the yoke, because piping makes everything better.
Again with the Sailboat pants:
And with the Class Picnic shorts:
Pattern: Oliver + S Class Picnic Blouse, size 2T with added length
Fabric: Lizzy House’s Hello Pilgrim Butterfly
Just beautiful, as always. Thanks for the top lengthening tipβI was thinking of trying out this pattern and our daughters are almost identical in age (and name, by the way!)
I have enjoyed visiting your blog SO much this week!! π You are so talented and your creations are beautiful! You’ve really inspired me to sew for my little girl.. π Thank you for sharing!
I was thinking about using this fabric for my daughter’s birthday dress, but couldn’t find anything with the scale. So glad you posted this! I’m definitely going to buy some. I’ll be using Oliver+S Bubble Dress pattern. I’ll have to try out this pattern – it looks so cute. I wish the patterns were a little less expensive.
So cute, the fabric is adorable!. I love the way the pipping enhance the top, great idea.
The clothes you make for your daughter are so beautiful and she models them so lovely, I especially love her sweet hair style!
oh, the piping looks great!! i’m halfway through one of these shirts myself π hope to get it finished up this morning.
I love the fabric you chose and the addition of the piping! It looks like a comfortable top, as well as adorable looking. My daughter’s comfort standards for her clothes are on diva levels; everything has to be soft against her skin and easy to run and climb in! I think this pattern would fit the bill! Thank you for sharing! BTW, your daughter is so cute!
beautiful as always! love the addition of the piping, and i think that top must look more complicated than it actually is. my blue butterfly project just needs to be hemmed (once Em decides to try it on rather than watch elephant videos on youtube…). great work this week!!
adorable
This top is really, really lovely and I love the fabric with the chambray. I think I need this pattern (can I justify it now that I have a little girl on the way? why, yes, I think I can!).
She looks great in it. This fabric keeps shouting at me. Also, your shot cotton dress is FABULOUS. Here, here for shot cottons. If only they didn’t so love to wrinkle.
thanks, rachel! seriously – ironing my 1/4 yards of shot cotton after they’d been washed and dried made me want to cry – it was impossible! never buying 1/4 yards again! π
Are there any good videos on Youtube or anywhere that show how to do correct gathering? (Question inspired by the gathering under the piping… I just can’t get mine right!)
I am getting ready use my first multi-sized pattern. Do you trace the smaller size with something so you don’t mess up the bigger sizes? If so what do you use to trace on?
yes! i use something called Pattern Ease – it’s a pattern tracing paper that’s sold by the yard (you can find it at Joann’s or other fabric stores). Here a link from amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Wide-Pattern-Ease-Tracing-Material/dp/B000WME6VA
