This could be my most ridiculous project to date, but from the moment I finished those first Simple Sewing for Baby Snugglers, I knew I had to work out a doll-sized version. In fact, I’ve had trouble thinking about much else. I got it figured out just in time for Lila’s birthday.
Now the easy way to do this would’ve been to print out a scaled-down version of the pattern from Craftzine, (UPDATE: this link no longer works and I don’t have access to the pdf, sorry!) but try as I might, I couldn’t get my printer to cooperate. So with Baby Girl and the original pattern pieces as guides, I sketched out a 12-inch doll-sized snuggler pattern.
I sewed up two – one for Baby Girl, and one for Baby Boy.
Don’t they look snug and cozy all swaddled up?
The snugglers are constructed (and function) exactly like the original,
just in miniature.
I’ve been talking about this project for months now and even started it a few times, and last week Lila randomly asked me, “Where’s my baby’s snuggler?” I told her I was working on it, and asked if she thought Baby Girl would still like to have one. To which she replied, “Oh yes, I think she’s really going to like it. I think she’s going to freak out.” I couldn’t ask for a better reaction than that!
If this isn’t the look of a doll freaking out, I don’t know what is…
i’m laughing out loud. what a good ‘freak out’ face on her doll. haha
they turned out great!
YEAH!!! I have been anxiously awaiting your next “Baby Girl” project :)! LOVE it!
oh my, i’m the one freaking out. and i love that picture of lila and her babies all wrapped up.
I love love love it! New project on my list!
So very cute those snugglers! Your post made me laugh. 🙂
I am giggling over here too!
And of course the baby’s should get their own little snugglers…adorable!
Oh my gosh, now I’m cluck cluck clucking for a girl. They are positively adorable!
Teehee, so so so adorable! These turned out great. I think we’re ALL freaking out at the cuteness. 🙂
We are.
😉
How could something so incredible lovely be ridiculous in any way?
Not at all.
♥!!!!!!
Oh I love this 🙂 So funny about “freaking out”. All your doll-sized versions of everything are killing me with the cuteness! My husband even said I should make some of your doll diapers and buy dolls for our two boys. I’m going with it while I can!!!
too, too cute! Lila must have the best decked-out baby dolls around!
those are so sweet. she looks so happy and cute holding that little baby doll. emily would love it if I made her one I’m sure. I wish I had about two extra days a week. ha!
The snuggler is adorable, and I love the comment about “freaking out.” It always cracks me up when my 3-year-old says that.
So cute!!!!!!!!!!!!
You make beautiful things but I absolutely love all the things you make for baby girl. Your daughter is one blessed little girl.
I’ve been wanting to sew some diapers and clothes for my little boy’s baby doll (to maybe try to get him ready for #2 on the way, but also just because it sounded fun) and now I think I will have to do a swaddler too! This is awesome.
That baby is definitely freaking out! Or is that me? ….. awesome project. Your projects are always gorgeous, and the photos project such a loving, serene atmosphere. Sigh
These are adorable! Great work! I found your blog via a pin on Pinterest and I love everything I’ve seen so far! Thanks for sharing.
Just look at that baby absolutely FREAKING out!!!! =)
What a perfect gift for a girl who loves her dolls! So cute compared to the life-sized snuggler. You have the best ideas!
that is awesome! fantastic project – and story! i have a journal that i try to keep out and accessible. in one half i jot gratitudes, in the other i write the funny/cute/sweet things the kids say. you know, those things i think i’ll never forget, but by dinner i’ve already forgotten them. yeah. those. when the two sides meet, it’s time for a new journal.
I just found your blog and I’m so happy I did! I think I just read a year’s worth of posts… there goes naptime! I can’t wait to start on some of these little dolly projects for my 3 year old!

FREAKING out. Love it.
I’m going to have to try a “medium” version for NICU gifts. While my daughter was 11.5 inches, most babies in the NICU are bigger than that.
Love the swaddlers and the fabric prints that you use! Where do you get your fabric from? Specifically the orange and blue fabric that you used for the swaddlers? Thanks!
thank you! i bought the fabric locally, but if you search for “Lotta Jansdotter Echo” you should still be able to find it online. those two prints are called “moira” and “florine”- good luck!
I love this but where done find the pattern for the doll sized one???
i made the pattern (just sketched it out based on the full-sized patter) but you could try printing out a reduced version of the original.
I featured this at Sinful Sewing & Sweets as part of my 30 Sew-Made Holiday Ideas. Check it out at http://sinfulsweetsandsewing.blogspot.com/2012/11/day-2-doll-accesorries.html
Thanks for the cute idea,
Kandice
Do you have a pattern for the doll sized version?
i’m sorry, i don’t!
I was just going to ask if you have a pattern for the doll versions too! I have a ton of fabric and told the girls I’d make them some burp cloths and diapers and this would be perfect to add to it!
Sorry, no pattern, I just winged it!
